February Events

The plums are blooming and the coldest days of the year are past, though it doesn't always feel like it, and there's plenty of events to enjoy. Remember you can add my events calendar to your own - give it a look.

Asobu! Games Exhibit vol 2 (~3/21, Skip City) - far out of town, but worth a visit for the lovely selection of early home games and arcade cabinets.

A World of Tiny Graphic Design: Stamps & Certificates (~3/5, Banknote & Postage Stamp Museum) - a beautiful exhibit of historical items in a museum that specializes in them. This was found via the Arakawa Line's events page, which has a variety of other interesting events you can access on Tokyo's only streetcar line.

Comitia 119 (2/12, Big Sight) - The first Comitia of the year, with a lovely theme illustration by Hiromi Matsuo.

Tokyo Indies (2/14, Shibuya) - The best way to spend Valentines Day (?) - since there's no Picotachi this month be sure to stop in for your fill of indie games.

Pomeromeko Exhibit "Pigeon and Cat" (2/17~3/12, Space Caiman) - A followup to last year's release event, this will present originals not in the last exhibit and offer some more goods for sale. Like last time, there will be a complementary event at Parabolica Bis in nearby Asakusabashi.

Dot Age 4 (2/18, Asakusabashi) - A retro and minor game event in its fourth iteration. I don't know a lot about this one, but it looks interesting!

Tokyo Demo Fest (2/18-19, Chiyoda Arts) - Two days of bit twiddling in Akihabara with tutorials, competitions, music, and chips to spare. Be sure to go Saturday night for a DJ event with chibi-tech!

Wonderfest (2/19, Makuhari Messe) - The biggest figure event in Japan, featuring new products from industry, licensed doujin figures, and original creations of all kinds.

Wake Up!! (2/25, Shibuya Glad) - Toriena's first one-man live! It's sold out already, but you can enjoy her latest EP, Oedo Controller, and keep an eye out for more announcements.

That's it for this month, catch you in the next one! Ψ
