December Events

The ginkos are changing color and all over Tokyo kotatsu are crawling out of hibernation. Things are a bit quiet leading up to the new year, but that doesn't mean there's nothing going on; check out this month's events.

Starting this month, I've made my events calendar public; tell me if you find it useful!

It hasn't snowed this much in Tokyo, but we can hope. 御蔵前の雪

Asobu! Games Exhibit vol 2 (~3/21, Skip City) - far out of town, but worth a visit for the lovely selection of early home games and arcade cabinets.

Demizu Posuka exhibit at Zingaro (12/1~13, Nakano) - Powerful illustration marked by a sense of space and wild monster designs; check his Pixiv (impressively numbered 33333). An artbook and some other merchandise will also be on sale.

Picotachi 39 at Pico Pico Cafe (12/9, Kichijouji) - The nicest little place to meet people in all of Tokyo. I'll probably be presenting something if I can get my act together in time.

Ludum Dare (12/10 JST, Internet) - The biggest game jam of them all is trying out a new site! Hopefully the transition goes smoothly.

Game Market (12/11, Big Sight) - The biggest analog game event in Tokyo. Even if you don't buy anything, there's plenty of demo tables to try things out. Besides pro booths from Japan and overseas there's a healthy community of amateurs covering not just board and card games but also tabletop RPGs.

Tokyo Indies (12/13, Shibuya) - Another month of local and visiting gamedevs. See here for my report on the last one.

Comiket 91 (12/29~31, Big Sight) - What is there to say? The biggest event of the season.

Stay warm, stay cool, and enjoy what's left of the year - see you in the next one! Ψ
